Drift Strategy

My original Drift Straegy was "right, right, left, left, right, left, repeat..." But I forgot to start it again after the first set. So I went to an arbitrary method where i focused on what was around me on not where i was. I felt lost for most ofmy drift because I'm not used to Milwaukee yet and wasn't even sure where I was until I got back to Sandburg hall.

Parking Garage

Last but not least, well I'll let you decide that, this is the UWM Sandburg hall parking garage. Yes I know its not Far away but I had to bike back to my dorm some day. And the inner child inside me decided to take a detour through the garage. I love how everything has that echo effect, listen to the car horn off some ladies Impala when she locks it.

Garbage Truck

I've always had a fascination with cars (motor vehicles for the cynical), I was lucky enough to pass by a garbage truck making slow work of several trash dumpsters. You can hear someone working with what sounds like a metal cutting saw, maybe an angle grinder, but I'm sticking with power saw. I love the combination of the different power sounds that we'd normally take
for granted as noise.
And yes I know it doesn't sound like a garbage truck, I've been told it doesn't many times. It's using its front arm braces to hoist a large dumpster over the top and dump it in the back. There wasn't much in the dumpster though.

The Pipe

As I continued my bike ride I came across a metal pipe laying next to a building. I had an interesting idea to stick one microphone in the pipe and keep one outside to hear the difference of the sound. I knocked on the pipe several times at different distances starting closer and moving farther away.
I suggest wearing headphones when you listen to this sound recording. Hope you enjoy.

Dodging Traffic

Because of the crappy weather and personal time constraints I went out on my drift in small sections. I thought to myself, "Gee, wouldn't it be much faster if I rode my bike On my drift so as to make up for the lost time and pass over where I've already been?" So I did just that! I grabbed my bag, slung it over my shoulder, hopped o my bike and rode through where Id already been. After biking a ways I had am interesting idea. At first I tried to shove it off my mind by thinking to myself, "It'd be to windy!" or "It wont sound right." Well finally the idea became over powering in my brain and I stopped my bike and pulled my bag off my shoulder and went to work. I stuffed the microphones into the side pockets of my bag but left them sticking out just enough to hear the world around me. I plugged my mikes and headphones into the Mini Disc and slung the bag back over my shoulder with the player recording. I had the Mikes facing behind me so the wind would be cut down since it'd be to my front at the speed i bike at.
One of my favorite things to do is bike across the road when there's not too much traffic. I got some interesting sounds from doing this. Take a listen...

Spy mode

I was arbitrary about my direction and pattern to my walks. It was cold and I was wearing a big coat so I hid the recorder in my coat and stuck the microphones out my sleeves.

I rounded the corner and noticed a wonderful walkway of leaves that I HAD to record the crunch sound. Then I picked up a stick a and clanked it across a metal fence. Listen Here.
